Rocktown High School Logo

Rocktown High School has been in the works for close to 12 years. In 2024, they plan to open for their first school year. This meant, they were ready for a brand identity that is going to represent their school for years to come. This was a project for my Visual Communication Design class and was completed in collaboration.

The Challenge

Create and design a brand identity for Rocktown High School, including logotype, an academic logo, an athletic logo, and two combination marks.

Intended Audience

High school students, faculty, and parents.

Role

Designer, focused in Illustrator.

Deliverables

Brand Identity, and implemented in a business card mockup, student ID mockup, social media mockup, and merchandise mockups.

The Big Idea

Consistency is Key.

Creative Rationale

Our idea was to keep a part of both the academic logo and athletic logo consistent between the two.  We chose a shield, which is often indicative of universities and academics. We also chose a letterman style R for the academic logo as there was a letterman R on the football field and in the basketball gym before they chose their new brand identity.  To pivot away from an academia vibe for the athletic logo, we designed a raptor, the school mascot, crawling out of the shield. The color palette was previously decided by the client as dark grey, black, and red.
